The Lindenwood women's hockey team was defeated 6-0 at Penn State on Saturday afternoon at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa.
Penn State went ahead for good in the first period with a power-play goal at the 8:58 mark. Although it would be lone goal of the period, Penn State would score two more power-play goals during the game.
The Nittany Lions added two goals during the second period, and three scores in the final frame to push the game to its final tally of 6-0.
Lauren Hennessey started in goal for Lindenwood, stopping 17 of the shots she faced.
Sarah McGall relieved Hennessey midway through the second period, and stopped 19 of the 22 shots sent in her direction.
Shannon Morris-Reade paced the Lions with four shots, while
Courtney Ganske led the team with five blocked shots.
Penn State scored on three of its four power-play chances, while Lindenwood failed to convert on any of its six opportunities.
With the loss, Lindenwood concludes the regular season with an 11-18-1 record and is 8-12-0 from within the CHA.
Lindenwood will enter the CHA Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will take on No. 4 Penn State from HarborCenter in Buffalo, N.Y. on Thursday afternoon.
