The No. 25 Lindenwood baseball team split its doubleheader on Sunday against Northeastern State at the Lou Brock Sports Complex to win the first MIAA-series of the season.

Wes Degener broke the program record of hits in a career in the NCAA era with his first at bat of the game. Degener and
Drew Quinones later scored on a triple by
Neil Fischer to put the Lions up 2-1. Fischer crossed the plate in the first inning as well to give Lindenwood an early two-run lead.Â
Ian Nelson drove in Fischer for the second time in the game in the fourth inning to keep the Lions up by two.

After surrendering five-consecutive runs, the Lions poured on three runs in the eighth including a two-RBI single by Nelson and a sacrifice fly by
Conor Behrens to tie the game. Quinones won the game on a walk-off single to score pinch-runner
Rayce Singbush in the ninth inning.

The Lions struggled to score runs in the second game as they posted just five hits, but drew nine walks. Â
Tyler Cassmeyer allowed three earned runs on seven hits and tallied eight strikeouts while
Lucas Tibbs tossed three scoreless innings while striking out four batters.Â
Ian Nelson tallied his fifth RBI of the day, but the second run of the game was not enough for the Lions.
