Roller Hockey Black Season Ends at GPCIHL Regional

The roller hockey Black season came to an end with a 5-3 semifinal loss to the Bethel (Tenn.) D3 squad at the Great Plains Collegiate Inline Hockey League Regional Championship February 25 at Midwest Sport Hockey in Ballwin, Missouri.  The Lions held a 3-1 lead at one point, but the Wildcats finished the game with four unanswered goals to oust Lindenwood from the tournament.

The game started well with the Lions scoring twice in the opening five minutes.  Joey Parker split the pipes off a feed from Jay Winton at 3:53, and then Cam Crouthers hit the back of the net just 25 seconds later, assisted by Scott Mandziara.  Bethel answered at the midway point of the period and Lindenwood held a 2-1 advantage at the end of one.  The high point of the contest came at 4:36 in the second when Shawn Mott broke free for an unassisted effort to give the Lions a 3-1 lead, but it was all Wildcats from there.  Bethel sounded the horn at 5:51 to pull within a goal, then added two more early in the third and added an empty-netter with four seconds remaining for the final margin.

The Wildcats outshot the Lions 21-17 and Cameron Balentine stopped 17 of the 21 pucks he faced to take the loss in goal for Lindenwood.  The Lions end the season with an overall record of 7-10.
