A return home proved to be good luck for the Lindenwood men's lacrosse team on Tuesday night in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions tied a season-high in goals during a 17-8 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo.
Lindenwood dominated possession in the game, taking 59 shots, including 40 shots on goal. Thirty-five of those shots came in the first half when the Lions built a 10-4 lead, which would have been a lot bigger if it wasn't for 13 saves by Colorado State-Pueblo. The Lions scored seven more times in the second half to seal the victory.
Lindenwood's defense also performed strong, allowing just 13 shots on goals and 22 total shots. The Lions forced 26 turnovers, had a +15 turnover margin, and collected 12 more groundballs in the game.
Colin Domek had a big game with four goals and three assists. His seven points was just one off the Lindenwood record.
Sam Heaton also score four times, and
Leonard Jones had three points, including two goals.
Robbie McCarthy had two goals, and
Carter Collins had two assists.
Jones led the team with eight groundballs. Four players had a team-high two caused turnovers in
Alex Eubank, Heaton,
Jake Moran, and
Coulter Strauss.
Ben Besancenez earned the win in goal, making three saves in 30 minutes of action.
Lindenwood improves to 4-3 on the season. The Lions will be in action again on Friday evening at Hunter Stadium with a 7 p.m. game against Adams State.
