Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Erupts for 25 Goals at McKendree

The No. 3 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team totaled a season-high 25 goals during its 25-13 win at McKendree on Sunday afternoon. The 25 goals scored is the second-highest mark in program history, and the most the team has scored in a single game since it had 26 goals against Oklahoma Baptist on April 22, 2017.

Lindenwood opened the game with three consecutive goals over the first 5:10 to take a controlling 3-0 lead. Allison Hurley, Hannah Doughty, and Cassie Stucklen had the first three goals of the game for the Lions.

McKendree answered the Lindenwood run by tallying five of the next eight goals, moving within one score of the Lions with just under 17 minutes left in the first half.

The Lions and Bearcats each continued their quick-pace offense for the remainder of the first half, with Lindenwood scoring eight of the next 13 goals. The Lions carried a 14-10 edge into halftime.

The Lions managed to slow the Bearcats down over the final half, limiting McKendree to just three second-half scores. Lindenwood's offense did not slow down during the second half, as the team poured in 11 more scores over the final 30 minutes of play.
At the game's conclusion, Lindenwood had nearly doubled up the home team, winning by a final score of 25-13.

Rachel Ortell earned her 11th victory in goal for Lindenwood. Ortell had four saves for the Lions, with three of those coming during the second half.

Hurley led all scorers with 10 points, becoming just the fourth Lion in program history to have double-digit points in a single game. Hurley scored a career-high seven goals, while adding three assists to set a new career-best mark.

Doughty finished the afternoon with a new career-high of nine points, including a personal-best five assists. Stucklen had five goals for Lindenwood, the second time this season she has scored at least five times in a game. Buelow registered her third-straight game with at least four goals.

Carly Fedorowski and Maria Johnson both had three-point efforts for the Lions.

Morgan Reader set a new career-high with 12 draw controls, just one shy of the program record.

Fedorowski and Alana Jeronimo each caused a team-leading two turnovers.

With the win, Lindenwood improves its record to 11-0 to begin the 2018 season. The Lions will return to action on Saturday afternoon for an RMAC showdown with cross-state rival Rockhurst. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. from Hunter Stadium.
