Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Seniors Fuel Milestone Victory for No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse

The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team cruised to a 19-4 victory over Rockhurst on Saturday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. Lindenwood's win was its 50th consecutive win in conference play since the start of the 2012 season. The Lions are 50-0 all-time in regular season conference games.

Prior to the start of the game, Lindenwood paid tribute to the four members of the 2018 senior class as part of its annual Senior Day ceremony. Sophie Buelow, Allison Hurley, Rachel Ortell and Cassie Stucklen have combined for a record of 67-7 during their four seasons at Lindenwood.

The Lions controlled the game from the opening draw, and never trailed in the contest. Lindenwood scored 12 of the game's first 14 goals in the first half, and carried a 12-2 advantage into the halftime intermission.

Lindenwood outscored Rockhurst by a 7-2 margin in the second frame, as it extended its lead to a final score of 19-4.

Ortell made two saves in goal for the Lions, picking up her 12th win of the season in the process.

Hurley lead all scorers with eight points, as she tallied four goals and four assists. Buelow and Hannah Doughty each had six-point performances for the Lions. Buelow had a team-leading five goals, while Doughty accounted for four assists.

Hurley and Buelow each achieved career milestones during the game. Hurley became the first Lion in program history to surpass 100 career assists, while Buelow became just the third member of Lindenwood's 200-point club.

Stucklen and Maria Johnson each added three goals for the Lions, while Gracie Pine and Emma Wildhart each found the back of the net once.

Johnson secured a team-high five draw controls, and Buelow caused a team-leading four turnovers.

With its win, Lindenwood improves to 12-0 to begin the season and is now 6-0 from within the RMAC. The Lions will next be in action on April 9 as they conclude the home portion of their schedule at 3:00 p.m. against No. 16 Grand Valley State.
