The No. 1 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team completed its second consecutive undefeated regular season on Saturday afternoon with a 25-1 win at Oklahoma Baptist. The victory was Lindenwood's 40th consecutive regular season win dating back to April 2, 2016, and also helped the team earn its seventh straight regular season conference championship.
Lindenwood led never trailed in the game, and built itself a 10-goal lead after just 11 minutes of play. The Lions would carried a 17-0 lead into halftime, and outscored the home team by an 8-1 count over the final 30 minutes, to secure the 25-1 victory. The 24-goal victory was tied for Lindenwood's largest margin of victory in program history.
Gracie Pine led all scorers with a career-high five-goal performance.
Emma Wildhart also achieved a new career-high, totaling three goals and four points in the game.
Garland Fiser and
Sophie Buelow also tallied hat tricks for Lindenwood. Twelve different Lions netted at least one goal, and 14 finished the game with at least one point.
Rachel Ortell Started the game in goal for Lindenwood, making one save en route to her 17th win of the season.
Aly Smith relieved Ortell in goal, and had a career-high eight saves.
Buelow collected a team-leading three draw controls.
Xenia Du Mont and
Callie Eldred each caused a team-high four turnovers, while
Remi Larson paced the team with five ground balls.
Lindenwood improves to 17-0 on the season and finishes the season with a perfect conference record of 9-0. The Lions will enter next weekend's RMAC tournament as the No. 1 seed following its conference title. Lindenwood will return to action on Friday, May 4 during the RMAC Tournament semifinal round against the winner of one of Thursday's quarterfinal contests.
