Lions Slug Their Way Past Southwest Baptist in 17-6 Win

The Lindenwood baseball team poured on 17 runs including three home runs in a 17-6 win over Southwest Baptist on Friday afternoon at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
 
Game Overview: Lindenwood 17, Southwest Baptist 6
Ian Nelson opened the scoring with a two-RBI single up the middle which was followed by a two-RBI double to right center by Vince Saladino.  Paul Sherwood added another run with a single through the left side to put Lindenwood up 5-0 early.  The Bearcats got one run back in the top of the second, but DJ Miller drove in a run on a double and later scored to extend the lead to 7-1 in the bottom of the frame.  Southwest Baptist began to rally back with two runs in the third and two runs in the fourth to make it a two-run ballgame.
 
Drew Quinones homered in the fourth, giving the Lions a bit of a cushion.  Southwest Baptist against scored a run in the sixth, but Lindenwood caught fire in the bottom of the inning.  The Lions scored two runs on an error by the catcher and Dominic Revetta drove in Neil Fischer on a double down the left field line.  Lindenwood powered its way through the seventh inning after Miller belted a two-run home run to left field and Fischer followed with an RBI double.  Ian Nelson answered with an RBI double of his own and Saladino ended the game with a walk-off two-run dinger to left field.

Lindenwood improves to 16-18 on the season and 9-14 in the MIAA while Southwest Baptist moves to 13-22 on the year and 7-15 in conference play.  The Lions will take on McKendree on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
