The Lady Lions began preliminary competition on Saturday with a 24-7 victory over the USA South Women, and followed with a 17-0 shutout of the Scion Academy.  After a close 21-15 setback against Life University, Lindenwood rebounded with a 29-0 win over the Atlanta Motley Women.

The Lady Lions faced a second loss of the tournament when they fell to the Scion Academy 21-7 on Sunday, but once again, Lindenwood rebounded well to defeat the Life Running Eagles in the title match 17-5.

Head Coach Billy Nicholas was happy with the team's performance.

"We are creating our chemistry, and when we are firing on all cylinders, we are scary good," he said.  "We had a lot of growth during the tournament.  Our first side going 1-1 with a very talented Scion Academy and winning the final against a strong Life side was a great accomplishment for them this weekend."

Lindenwood also entered a second side in the event, and the squad finished third overall.  On Saturday, the Lady Lions defeated the Life 3 team 20-0, but then lost to the Life 2 team 27-19.  Lindenwood finished the day with a 27-7 victory over USA South U23.  On Sunday, the Lady Lions second side fell to that same USA South U23 team 17-0, but captured third place with a 35-0 win over Life 3.

Women's rugby begins the USA Rugby Elite 15's Playoffs April 21 against Stanford in San Francisco, California.  If the Lady Lions win, they will advance to the round of eight the following day against either Chico State or the University of California – Santa Barbara.
