Men’s Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw in Home Opener

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's soccer team opened its 2018 season with a 1-1 draw against Truman State on Friday evening from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions managed the tie despite playing with only 10 men for the final 67 minutes of the match.

Truman State broke through with the first goal of the match in the 31st minute, as Matt Yankowitz received a cross pass from the left side of the field, and deposited it into the back of the net.

The Bulldogs lead was short lived, as the Lions netted an equalizer in the 37th minute of the contest. Gaspar Alvarez tallied the header goal for Lindenwood, while Jose de Gregorio picked up the assist.

Lindenwood's Joshua Scholl was given a red card in the 44th minute of the match, leaving the Lions with just 10 players for the duration of the game.
Despite each team registering their fair share of opportunities throughout the match, neither team was able to score again, and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
