GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's soccer team posted a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over UMSL on Sunday evening in St. Louis, Mo. With the win, the Lindenwood improves its record to 1-0-1 to begin the 2018 season.
Lindenwood grabbed an early 1-0 advantage in the 18th minute of the match, as
Thomas Hutcheson netted his first score of the season. Hutcheson's score came off of a loose ball scramble inside the UMSL goal box.
Johannes Brendle picked up the assist on the play.
UMSL tied the score in the 35th minute, and each team entered halftime even at 1-1.
Hutcheson again found the back of the net in the 61st minute, heading the ball into the back of the net off of a long free kick from
Fernando Cordero.
The Lions lead was again short lived, as the Tritons pulled even in the 74th minute. The game would remain tied for the remainder of regulation, and would head to overtime.
With just 33 seconds remaining in the first overtime period, Cordero connected on a penalty-kick opportunity, giving the Lions their first win of the season.

For Cordero, the penalty-kick goal was the second of his career. It was also his second career game-winning score.
In two career games against UMSL, Hutcheson has now scored four goals. Hutcheson also had a two-goal performance at UMSL on Sept. 1, 2016.
Hutcheson has four career multi-goal performances.
Each team posted 10 total shots, and four shots on goal.
