Field Hockey Falls in Shootout

GAME DETAILS
Lindenwood field hockey fell to Bloomsburg, 3-2 in a shootout to open the 2018 campaign. The Lions were down early off a Bloomsburg goal in the fourth minute, but came back to tie in the 11th minute with Bridgette Hoogendijk finishing a pass from Noor Fons. Bloomsburg regained the lead in the 42nd minute, but Lindenwood again answered with another Hoogendijk goal, this time from Mary Clare Banholzer who led Hoogendijk with a pass downfield, giving her a one on one chance with the Bloomsburg keeper. Both teams were held scoreless through two overtimes and continued to stay deadlocked through shootout. Bloomsburg converted in the sudden death round to defeat the Lions.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lindenwood goalie Skylar Starbeck recorded 13 saves in the contest, a career-best for the senior. It is tied for the fifth-most saves in a single game in Lindenwood history.
- Hoogendijk led the Lion attack with three shots, all on goal, and two goals.
- Banholzer had two shots, both on goal, to go along with her first career assist.
- Pauline Terwindt and Caro Theuniz each took two shots in the game. 
- Noor Fons recorded an assist.
