Hoogendijk Scores Twice in Home-Opening Win

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood field hockey team picked up a 3-1 win over Mercy during its home opener on Saturday afternoon at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The win improves Lindenwood's record to 4-1 on the season.

Bridget Hoogendijk opened the scoring with a goal at the 16:14 mark of the first half, giving Lindenwood a one-goal lead.

Hoogendijk added another goal just 2:19 later, extending the Lions lead to a two-goal margin.

Mercy would score once before halftime, which arrived with Lindenwood holding a 2-1 edge.

Jessie Londono had the only goal of the second half, which gave the Lions a two-goal cushion for the remainder of regulation.

Skylar Starbeck started the game in goal for Lindenwood, making one save en route to her fourth win of the season.

Mackenzie Litterst relived Starbeck in the 47th minute, also making one save during her time in goal.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hoogendijk's five-point effort was single-game season-high.
- Hoogendijk leads the team with 12 points through five games this season.
- Londono's goal gives her three scores on the season and nine points. Londono has scored one goal in consecutive games.
- Noor Fons and Savannah Motley each added assists in the game. Fons had her assist on the first goal of the game, while Motley tallied hers on the second goal of the afternoon.

Lindenwood will conclude its two-game homestand tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m. The Lions will host Newberry at 12:00 p.m.
