Alvarez and Hutcheson Score in Tie for Men’s Soccer

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's soccer team posted a 2-2 tie against the No. 17 Northeastern State RiverHawks on Friday afternoon from Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The tie brings Lindenwood's record to 3-3-2 on the season and 0-1-1 from inside the MIAA.

Lindenwood got off to a fast start, scoring the first goal of the match in the 17th minute. Joshua Scholl assisted Thomas Hutcheson, giving Lindenwood a 1-0 lead.

The RiverHawks responded with a goal of their own in the 23rd minute, evening the game at 1-1.

Northeastern State broke a scoreless tie in the 52nd minute, to take a 2-1 lead.

Lindenwood's Gaspar Alvarez netted the equalizer in the 82nd minute off of a pass from Hutcheson.

Alvarez's goal would prove to be the final score of the afternoon, as the match ended in a tie after two 10-minute overtime periods.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hutcheson and Alvarez each netted their fourth goals of the season during the match.
- Hutcheson's three-point performance was his first game this season with one goal and one assist.
- Alvarez has now scored in each of Lindenwood's last three matches, giving him eight points on the season.
- Aleksa Nenadic started in goal for the Lions, making one save.
- The Lions have now gone to overtime in four of their eight matches this season. Lindenwood has a 2-0-2 record in matches decided in extra time.
- Lindenwood held the edge in shots (13-10) and shots on goal (4-3).

Lindenwood will return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. The Lions will host Southwest Baptist from Hunter Stadium.
