Men's Soccer Secures Season's First MIAA Win

MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood men's soccer team earned its first MIAA win of the season on Sunday afternoon at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions defeated the Southwest Baptist Bearcats by a final score of 4-1 to improve their record to 4-3-2 overall and 1-1-1 from within the MIAA.

Lindenwood scored the first goal of the match in the 10th minute, as Luke McBeth headed the ball into the back of the net off of a corner kick.

Southwest Baptist tied the game at 1-1 with a goal in the 18th minute.

The Lions scored once more before the end of the half, as Thomas Hutcheson ripped a shot from 15 yards out in the 39th minute, giving Lindenwood a 2-1 edge heading into halftime.

Lindenwood's Joshua Scholl scored two goals within the first 6:22 of the second half, to extend the Lions' lead to a 4-1 margin. Scholl's first score came in the 46th minute, while his second goal was scored in the 52nd minute.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- McBeth's goal was the first goal and point of his collegiate career.
- McBeth added an assist later in the match, as both he and Pape Ndiaye were credited with the assists on Hutcheson's goal.
- Hutcheson's goal was his team-leading fifth score of the season. Hutcheson has now scored in back-to-back games for the first time this season, and leads Lindenwood with 11 points.
- Scholl's two-goal performance was the first multi-goal game of his career.
- Aleksa Nenadic made _ saves in goal for Lindenwood, as he earned his third victory of the season.
- Lindenwood held the edge in shots (15-6), shots on goal (9-2), and corner kicks (6-0).

UP NEXT
Lindenwood will return to action on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when the Lions will host Oakland City for a non-conference match at Hunter Stadium.
