GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood football team (2-3) nearly pulled off the upset over No. 10 Pittsburg State (5-0) in a 27-24 loss in overtime on Saturday in Hunter Stadium. The Lions held a 24-17 lead after a field goal by
Barrett Foley, but the Gorillas tied the game late in the fourth and won it on a field goal in OT.

Both defensive units were strong on Saturday as Pittsburg State only registered a field goal with 7:28 to go in the first quarter.Â
Drew Seers flipped the game around for the Lions after returning an interception 82 yards for a touchdown, giving Lindenwood a 7-3 lead after the first quarter of play. The game went back-and-forth as the next Lindenwood touchdown came on an 87-yard touchdown run by
Nash Sutherlin. The Lions had a chance to go into halftime with the lead, but Pittsburg State rallied for a touchdown with less than 30 seconds to take a 17-14 lead into the break.

Neither team scored in the third quarter and the Lions regained the lead in the fourth frame after

Darrius Williams rocked the Pittsburg State quarterback, forcing a fumble that was picked up by
Jonathan Harris. The recovery led to a 38-yard field goal by Foley to give Lindenwood a 24-17 lead. The Gorillas ran 14 plays for 58 yard in less than three minutes to tie the game late in the fourth quarter. The Lions attempted to put a drive together, but eventually ran the clock out to force overtime.

Lindenwood had the first possession in the extra frame, but was forced to attempt a 46-yard field goal which fell short. The Gorillas took the momentum and nailed a 22-yard field goal to end the game 27-24.

The Lindenwood defense held the Gorillas to just 130 yards passing while completing less than 50 percent of their passes. The Lions had three turnovers in the game as
Jordan Perry also had an interception on a tough play deep down the field to end the Pittsburg State drive in the second quarter.
