Freshman goaltender
Stephen Friedland earned his first collegiate win and shutout as the Lions stopped Iowa State 3-0 Saturday night at the ISU Arena in Ames, Iowa.
After a scoreless first period, Lindenwood took a 1-0 lead on a
Victor Lombardi shot with help from
Brendan Murphy at 8:11 of the second. The Lions continued the thwart the Cyclones and then added to the advantage on the power play midway through the third.

Aapo Nurminen set up
Vegard Faret at 9:30 and Lindenwood had a 2-0 lead. The Lions put the game away later in the period when
Matt Runyon scored off a feed from
Billy Denis with 3:31 remaining.
Lindenwood outshot Iowa State 39-24 and Friedland stopped all 24 shots he faced for the Lions, who went 1/5 on the power play while holding the Cyclones scoreless on four man-advantage chances.
With the victory, Lindenwood improved to 4-2-0 overall and 2-0-0 in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League. After three straight wins on the road, the Lions will try to make it four as they begin a home-and-home series against Illinois October 18. The puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at the Illinois Ice Arena in Champaign – Urbana, Illinois. The second game of the set will take place beginning at 7:30 p.m. October 19 at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
