Women's Soccer Outlasts Maryville for 2-0 Road Win

The Lindenwood women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to three with a 2-0 win over the Maryville Saints on Sunday afternoon in St. Louis, Mo. With the win, the Lions improve their record to 4-6-1 on the season, and 3-5-1 against GLVC opponents.

MATCH OVERVIEW
The first half consisted of strong defensive efforts on each of side of the field, with the two teams combining for only two shots in the opening half. Both of those shots were credited to Lindenwood, as the Lions managed to hold the Saints without a shot in the opening half of play. Despite its two shots on goal during the first half, Lindenwood was unable to break the scoreless tie before halftime.

The scoreless action continued into the second half, until Katie Juhlin came through for the Lions to break to 0-0 tie. Mia Corrigan and Maggie Miller connected on consecutive passes to set up Juhlin for the goal in front of the Saints net in the 61st minute of play.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the Lions until the 75th minute, when Lindenwood extended its lead to a two-goal margin. Sammi Gregory set up Miller with a cross pass, which Miller finished for her third point of the day.

Lindenwood continued to limit the Maryville offense, holding the Saints to just two shots throughout the second half. The Lions were able to protect the lead and preserve the 2-0 shutout.

- Juhlin's score was her first goal of the season, and the second game-winning goal of her career.
- Miller's three-point performance gives her points in four consecutive matches, and she has scored goals in three of the last four matches for the Lions.
- Miller leads Lindenwood with 10 points this season.
- Following her assist, Gregory now has points in back-to-back matches.
- Corrigan also has recorded points in two straight matches, and has three points over the last two contests.
- Megan Swanson registered her fourth win and her fourth shutout of the season.
- Swanson finished the match with one save, raising her save percentage to .778 for the season.
- For the match, Lindenwood held the edge in shots (8-2) and shots on goal (7-1).

Lindenwood will begin its final homestand of the season on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. against Rockhurst. The Lions will play each of their next four matches at home, concluding with Senior Day on Sunday, Oct. 27.
