Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Youth Leads Women's Hockey to 3-1 Win

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-3-0) earned its first victory in Centene Community Ice Center with a 3-1 win over Union College (0-5-0) on Friday night in Maryland Heights, Mo.  All three goals were scored by newcomers, marking their first goals in a Lindenwood uniform.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions struck first with a goal at the 12:09 mark by Madilynn Hickey to put Lindenwood in front 1-0.  Lindenwood took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission, and came out hot in the second period.  Gigi Pora found a loose put in front of the net, and buried it for her first career goal.  Hickey assisted on the player for her second point of the game, while Lauren Dabrowski notched her first assists of the year.

The Lions played strong on the defensive end, helping Annika Asplundh to a shutout through two periods.  Asplundh made 11 saves in the opening period, and another 10 more in the second frame.  Even though the Lions went 0-for-6 on the power play, they were still able to get on the board again with a lone goal by Casey Adimey.

Lindenwood took a commanding 3-0 lead at the 5:11 mark of the third period, before allowing a goal just a few minutes later.  The power play goal is all that Union would get, as Asplundh earned her first career victory after making 30 saves.
