The Lindenwood football team (5-3, 4-0 GLVC) will take on No. 8 UIndy (7-0, 5-0 GLVC) on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions and Greyhounds are the only unbeaten teams from within the GLVC, while the two teams go head to head for the first time in program history.
The Lions are on a four-game winning streak after defeating Quincy 33-27 last week.
Drew Seers earned his second-consecutive GLVC Defensive Player of the Week honor and his third on the year. Seers made 19 tackles with 3.5 tackles for loss, bringing his season tackle total to 106.
Payton Rose went off for 177 receiving yards and three scores, while
Cade Brister tossed five touchdowns in the game.
UIndy is ranked No. 3 in the first NCAA Division II Regional Poll that was released on Monday. The Greyhounds have won 23-straight GLVC games, setting the new conference record. Al McKeller is leading the team on the ground with 824 rushing yards and 12 scores. TJ Edwards has completed over 65 percent of his passes for 1495 yards and 16 touchdowns through the air.
The Lions are led offensively by Brister and Rose, especially as of late. Rose ranks fourth in NCAA Division II with 12 receiving touchdowns, while Brister is second in the country with 27 passing touchdowns through eight games. Seers ranks second in the nation with his 13.3 tackles per game.
Lindenwood has not beaten a top-10 team in the NCAA era, but the Lions upset No. 24 Truman State earlier this season. The Lions are 1-1 against ranked opponents this season, as the Lions fell by one point to No. 16 Midwestern State in the second week of the season.
