Lions Remain Second in ACHA Ranking

Lindenwood remained second in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I Ranking after an impressive sweep of No. 8 Davenport at home last weekend.  The Lions earned back-to-back shutouts in the series while outshooting the Panthers 94-37.

Not much changed in the top five from the previous week.  Adrian maintained the top spot in the poll for the fifth straight week after sweeping Stony Brook to improve to a perfect 10-0-0.  The University of Michigan – Dearborn was third once again after playing a single contest in the last week and making the most of it with a 5-1 victory over Lawrence Tech.  Defending national champion Minot State won three home games to improve to 7-1-2, enough to improve a spot to fourth.  Indiana Tech rounded out the top five, dropping a spot from week-to-week after sweeping a home-and-home series with Rochester University.

Lindenwood has a road series against No. 14 Central Oklahoma November 15-16.  The Bronchos handed the Lions one of their only losses of the regular season in late September, but have struggled a bit since then.  UCO enters the two-game set with a mark of 10-7-1 overall, but has lost three straight.  The Bronchos have a balanced attack on offense with seven players totaling double-digit points so far, led by Domenic Kolbeins with 16 on seven goals and nine assists.  Vitalli Mikhailov is right behind with five goals and 10 assists for 15 points, followed by four different players with 14.  Alex Henry has handled most of the goaltending duties so far with an 8-7-0 record.  He has posted a 2.87 goals against average and .911 save percentage.

Meanwhile, Lindenwood is led by Brendan Murphy and Aapo Nurminen who each have 15 points.  Alex Kalau and Austin Wilk are close behind with 12 each.  Cooper Seedott continues his mastery of the netminder position with a .961 save percentage and miniscule 0.80 goals against average.

The Lions and Bronchos face off at 7 p.m. Friday night and at 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Arctic Edge in Edmond, Oklahoma.
