Lions Drop to Third in Latest ACHA Ranking

The Lions slipped from second to third in the latest American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men's Division I Ranking.  Lindenwood fell to 10-4-0 overall after being swept by Central Oklahoma last weekend.  Three of the four losses for the Lions have come at the hands of the Bronchos this season.

Adrian College maintained the top position in the poll for the sixth consecutive week.  The Bulldogs are still perfect at 12-0-0 after back-to-back shutouts of Eastern Michigan.  Defending ACHA Men's Division I National Champion Minot State moved from fourth to second after sweeping No. 17 Iowa State.  The Beavers now sit at 9-1-2 for the year.  Michigan – Dearborn fell from third to fourth despite a sweep of Cleary University and the University of Arizona moved into the top five from seventh after two wins against Western Michigan.  The Wildcats improved to 13-2-2 overall.

Lindenwood puts its perfect 6-0-0 record in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL) on the line against No. 9 Ohio University on the road November 22-23.  The Bobcats enter the series at 9-2-3 after impressive wins against Slippery Rock 10-2 and 5-0.  Ohio is led offensively by Tyler Harkins with 35 points on 15 goals and 20 assists.  Gianni Evangelisti is next with 28 points on 11 goals and 17 assists.  James Thomas has carried most of the weight in goal, playing in all but one game for the Bobcats.  He has posted a 2.55 goals against average and .883 save percentage.

The Lions counter with a balanced offensive attack and superb goaltending.  Six players have earned double-digit points, led by Brendan Murphy and Aapo Nurminen, each with 16.  Vegard Faret has 13, Alex Kalau and Austin Wilk each have 12, and Kyler Newman has 11.  Cooper Seedott has an 8-4-0 record as the primary Lindenwood netminder.  He has only given up 14 goals all season for a 1.18 goals against average and .943 save percentage.

The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. EST both Friday and Saturday night at the Bird Arena in Athens, Ohio.
