The Lindenwood football team (6-3, 5-0 GLVC) will honor its senior class on Saturday, as the Lions host Missouri S&T (6-3, 3-2 GLVC) for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
The Lions are coming off their biggest win since joining the NCAA, after knocking off No. 8 UIndy last weekend.Â
Cade Brister set multiple school records in the 34-27 win, as he threw for 541 yards and three scores. Lindenwood had three different receivers eclipse the 100-yard mark;
Najee Jackson (124),
Payton Rose (121), and
Nash Sutherlin (115), while
Erik Henneman added 94 yards.
Drew Harlow had been a force on the defensive line, registering 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, two pass break ups, and one forced fumble in his last three games.Â
Drew Seers has been all over the field this season, racking up 120 tackles with 9.0 tackles for loss.
On offense, the Lions rank eighth in NCAA Division II for the most first downs. Lindenwood is fourth in the country with 339.6 passing yards per game.
The Lions and Miners have not met since the 2013 season when Lindenwood won 27-10 in St. Charles, Mo. The series between the two schools is tied at 1-1, as Missouri S&T won the first meeting 19-13 during the 2011 season.
The Miners are led by Brennan Simms who has 2,260 passing yards and 19 touchdowns on the season. Simms has thrown four touchdowns to each of the top three receivers for the Miners. Tershawn Wharton has been making noise on the defensive side of the ball with 5.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries, and one forced fumble.
