The Lindenwood football team (7-3, 6-0 GLVC) captured at least a share of the GLVC Championship in its first season in the conference, after defeating Missouri S&T (6-4, 3-3 GLVC) by a 37-31 final in overtime on Saturday at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood took an early lead after
Drew Harlow had a strip sack to give the Lions possession at the Missouri S&T nine-yard line.Â
Payton Rose scored his 14th touchdown of the season at the 12:14 mark of the first quarter, tying the school record held by Andrew Helmick. The Miners took control of the game for the remainder of the quarter, scoring 17-unanswered points to take a 17-7 lead.

The Lions continued to struggle offensively, but
Nash Sutherlin brought the Lions within three points after scoring on a 17-yard touchdown pass from
Cade Brister. Missouri S&T picked up a big touchdown with just 15 seconds left in the half to take a 24-14 lead into the locker room.

Brister and the Lions kicked it up a notch in the second half, as Brister took the Lions on a 14-play 95-yard drive that was capped off with a 21-yard touchdown run.Â
Ricky McCoy set the Lions up with great field position near the end of the third quarter, but Lindenwood settled for a 28-yard field goal from
Brett Garner to tie the game at 24-24 heading into the fourth quarter.

In the early part of the fourth quarter, Brister used his legs again to bust out a 37-yard touchdown run, giving the Lions their first lead of the game with 11:32 remaining. The Miners did not back down, as they returned the favor with a touchdown of their own at the 9:39 mark, making it a 31-31 game. Both defenses were tough down the stretch, as each team held their ground on a fourth-and-short situation. Missouri S&T had a chance to end the game with a field goal, but
Jordan Perry came through with one of the biggest plays of the season as he blocked the attempt to send the game to overtime.

Lindenwood took first possession in overtime, and Brister found
Glen Gibbons for a 12-yard score as he reached across the goal line. The Lions held strong on their defensive possession, capping off a thrilling 37-31 overtime victory on senior day. Lindenwood had many quality performances, including Harlow who had 2.0 sacks and 11 total tackles on the day.Â
Spencer Redd gave the Lions great field position with as he compiled 165 yards on his five kickoff returns.
