Men's ice hockey extended its winning streak to eight games with a 4-0 shutout of Davenport Saturday night at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
The Lions scored twice in the opening period, the first coming from the stick of
Zach Mitchell on a
Hayden Dawes feed at 3:53. Less than three minutes later,
Tommy Heinzman assisted on the first collegiate goal for freshman
Blake Finley at 6:35. Lindenwood extended its lead early in the second on a
Hayden Ursulak power play shot assisted by
Kyler Newman and Dawes at 2:28. The final goal of the game came from
Alex Kalau on a play set up by Heinzman and
Austin Wilk at 6:52 in the third.
The Lions outshot the Panthers 48-17 and
Cooper Seedott stopped all 17 shots he faced to earn the victory in goal.
Lindenwood improved to 9-2-0 overall. The Lions will wrap up the two-game set with Davenport Sunday afternoon with the opening faceoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
