Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Sierra Burt and Sophie Wolf Lead Women's Hockey to 6-1 Victory

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lindenwood women's hockey team (7-18-3, 3-11-2 CHA) dominated Robert Morris (12-12-6, 10-3-3 CHA) on Saturday by a 6-1 final at Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo.  The Lions scored two goals in each period as Sierra Burt led the way with two goals in the game.

The Lions continued their success from Friday night as they jumped on the board in the first five minutes of the game.  Cierra Paisley won the draw back to Kayla Martinez who threw the puck at the net before Megan Wagner tipped it in for the 1-0 lead.  Jada Burke scored her 10th goal this season to make it a 2-0 game at the 8:36 mark of the first period.  The game took a similar turn as the night before with a goal by Robert Morris in the second period to make it a one-goal game.

Lindenwood put its foot down and built the lead back to three after Courtney Ganske took a slap shot from the blue line that made it past the goalie at the 14:22 mark of the second frame.  The Lions went on the power play late in the period, and great puck movement led to a goal by Burt with less than three minutes to go in the second.

With time ticking down, the Colonials pulled the goal, which led to an empty-net goal for Nicole Guagliardo at the 14:43 mark of the third.  Exactly three minutes later, Burt picked off a pass in her own zone and flew down the ice for the unassisted goal, giving the Lions the 6-1 victory.  Sophie Wolf was great in net on Saturday as she tallied 41 saves, including 19 in the third period alone.  The Lions defense was strong on both sides of the ice as five points came from defenseman and the team combined for 25 blocked shots.
