OVERVIEW
Lindenwood softball opened the Rosemont Dome Invitational with a pair of wins, including an extra-inning upset of no. 16 Grand Valley State. The Lions topped Wisconsin-Parkside 9-6 in the first game of the tournament.
Caitlyn Touchette hit a grand slam in against the Rangers to lead the Lindenwood offense. In the second game, LWU tied nationally ranked GVSU through seven innings. The Lakers scored in the top of the eighth to put the Lions in a hole.
Courtney Klosinski opened the inning with a bunt single to advance the runner (international tiebreaker rules) to third. Freshman
Madison Corwell then reached on a bunt single of her own to score the tying run.
Caitlyn Touchette laid down a sacrifice bunt to move the runners to second and third. Lindenwood then had a strikeout, which led to shortstop
Austine Pauley ripping a two-out RBI single to center field to win the game for Lindenwood.
The Lions are now 4-0 on the year.
