The Lindenwood football team announced its 2019 signing class on Wednesday. The Lions added 33 total players including 22 high school seniors.
Head Coach
Jed Stugart was thrilled with the number of commitments and feels this recruiting class is a great addition to the culture that is building at Lindenwood.
"Our goals were to add guys with high character, who have a strong work ethic, and show great leadership skills," said Stugart. "That's been our focal point in our first three recruiting classes."
Lindenwood loaded up on the big men up front as the Lions brought in nine offensive linemen, including two transfers. On the other side of the ball, Lindenwood went after six defensive linemen to beef up the trenches, and landed eight linebackers. The Lions added five more guys on the offensive side, three defensive backs, and two kickers to round out the list of 32 players as of Wednesday afternoon.
The Lions signed 13 guys from the state of Missouri including 10 from the St. Charles/St. Louis area. The 2019 signing class has 11 different states represented with six players coming from the state of California.
Lindenwood will return eight all-conference players including first-team All-American
Erik Henneman. The Lions placed 12 players on the all-MIAA list a season ago, but graduate four including first-team all-MIAA selection
Jonathan Harris. Lindenwood will bring back its leading passer, its top-two leading rushers, and five of the top six receivers from 2018. On the defensive side, the Lions will bring back nine of the top 11 tacklers from a season ago.
