Baseball Splits Doubleheader with No. 18 Mississippi College

The Lindenwood baseball team (2-4) split its doubleheader on Saturday with No. 18 Mississippi College (4-1) in Clinton, Miss.  The Choctaws took game one 3-2 while the Lions won the second game by a 3-1 final.
 
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
The Lions had strong pitching from Tyler Cassmeyer who went 5 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.  Cassmeyer allowed one run, while the pitching staff as a whole allowed just one earned run in the game.  Lindenwood scored the first runs of the game in the top of the fifth with a fielder's choice allowing Neil Fischer to cross the plate.  DJ Miller hit a single to center field to bring in Mitchell Krebs for the 2-0 lead for the Lions.
 
Mississippi College responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth on a throwing error with two outs.  The Choctaws tied the game in the bottom of the eight with a two-out single up the middle, making it a 2-2 game.  The Lions surrendered the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th in the 3-2 loss in game one.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
The Lions quickly jumped on the board in the second game with an RBI by Dominic Revetta in the first inning.  Kyle Hentis pitched a strong 5 2/3 innings as his only run allowed came in the fifth inning with two outs.  With a tie game heading into the seventh inning, Sosnowski drove in Bryce Beckmann on a single up the middle to put the Lions ahead by one run.
 
In the very next at bat, Krebs drove in Ryan Venne to extend the lead to 3-1.  Eric Hipp came in to toss the final 1 1/3 innings and earned the win as he shut the door in the seven-inning affair.  Miller went 2-for-3 in the game as he led the Lions with four hits on the day.
