Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Teams Prepare for the National Championships

Men's Preview

The No. 4-ranked Lindenwood University men's swimming and diving team heads to Indianapolis, IN this week for the 2019 NCAA DII Championships, hosted by the University of Indianapolis at the iconic Indiana University Natatorium.

The four-day championships begin Wednesday, with all preliminary sessions at 10am and all final sessions at 6pm. Diving will host a pre-qualification meet on Tuesday at 10am to determine final invitations for the championships.

The Lions will be sending a total of 13 swimmers and divers to Indianapolis. Along with individual events, the Lions will also swim all five relays. The Lion men have posted some of the best times in the country this season, many earning top-16 marks in individual events.

Leading the way is, Justin Winnett, who is currently seeded 2nd in the 100 breaststroke and 3rd in the 200 breaststroke. Cristian Vasquez earned a 6th place ranking in the 400 Individual Medley and 14th in the 200 butterfly. Zach Linder is the 5th seed in the 100 freestyle, while Angel Regalado is ranked 8th in the 1650 freestyle.

Angel Regalado (first time invitee) – 1000 free, 1650 free, 500 free, 200 free
Zach Linder – 50 free, 100 free, 200 free
Daniel Jacob – 50 free, 100 free, 200 free
Maxime Eekhof (first time invitee) – 100 breast, 200 breast
Isaak Webb (first time invitee) – 200IM, 100 fly, 100 breast, 200 breast

Lindenwood diver, Dylan Callaghan, has earned his invite to the pre-qualification meet and will dive Tuesday for an official invitation to the championships.

Women's Preview

Leading the way is Simone de Rijcke, who will be top-seed and defending her national title in the 200 freestyle. She is also the 5th seed in the 500 freestyle and 6th seed in the 1650 freestyle.

Freshman, Jana Hellenschmidt has earned a 7th seed in the 400IM and 8th in the 500 freestyle events.

The Lady Lions are also top-seed in the 800 Freestyle Relay: they were the national runners-up last season and looking to set program history with a relay title.

Madeline Webb – 200 Free Relay

Lindenwood divers, Katie Werkema, Ashley Holloway, Allie Steinhauser, Madison Arnold and Taylor Seilheimer have earned spots in the pre-qualification meet and will dive Tuesday for an official invitation to the championships.
