The Lindenwood men's tennis team defeated Maryville 4-3, while the women's team lost 6-1 to the Saints on Tuesday in St. Charles, Mo.
The men's team was tied after singles competition, as
Michele Gaspari,
Logan Orr, and
Carlos Clerins each picked up a solo win. Orr handled his opponent 6-2, 6-1 for the only two-set win for the Lions. Gaspari lost the first set, but won the next two by scores of 7-6 and 7-5.
Clerins won his first set handily with a 6-0 win, but needed a 10-7 victory in the third set to earn the much-needed point. Lindenwood earned the doubles point with two victories by scores of 6-2 and 6-4.
On the women's side,
Dana Minakova earned the lone victory for the Lions. Minakova won in two sets by scores of 6-2 and 6-2.
Both teams will return to the court on Thursday to host Emporia State at 2 p.m. in St. Charles, Mo.
