The Lindenwood football team will take on No. 16 Midwestern State (1-0) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in Hunter Stadium for the home opener in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions are looking to bounce back from a loss to NCAA Division I FCS Eastern Washington last week.
Midwestern State enters the day with a 1-0 record, after defeating Northwestern State by a 33-7 margin in Natchitoches, La. The Lions and Mustangs met just once before, resulting in a 23-6 win for Midwestern State in 1994.
Lindenwood struggled to contain Eastern Washington in the season opener, but found success in the passing game.Â

Payton Rose on two scores.Â
Erik Henneman snagged his 10th career touchdown catch, while
Alex Scharf pulled in his first in a Lion uniform.
Zach Purcell led the Mustangs to their first win of the season, as he tossed three touchdown passes and tallied 323 yards. Melik Owens was a force on defense, as he racked up 2.5 tackles for loss, including 1.5 sacks in the game. Midwestern State compiled seven tackles for loss for a total of 27 yards in week one.
Lindenwood found strong success from its special teams unit last week, as freshman
Spencer Redd compiled 133 yards on kickoff return. Junior transfer
Jared Stangler tallied 396 yards on nine punts, including five punt of 50 yards or more. Stangler pinned the Eagles inside their own 20 yard line on four diffent occasions, including a 61 yard punt that was downed at the three yard line.
On Saturday, both teams will wear yellow wristbands in recognition of Mental Health Awareness & Suicide Prevention.
