Women's rugby began its season with two shutouts over the weekend.

In the home opener against D1 Elite opponent Davenport on Saturday at the Lindenwood Track in St. Charles, Missouri, the Lions showed solid technique, speed, and depth as they posted a 125-0 victory.  Head Coach Billy Nicholas emptied his bench in the second half, giving the entire roster valuable playing time.  Stand-out performances were turned in by Forward of the Match Natalie Gray and Back of the Match Taina Scott.

Lindenwood went on the road for the second shutout, a 21-0 win over the Kansas City Jazz on Sunday at Wyandotte County Park in Kansas City, Kansas.  Katherine Yeomans received Forward of the Match honors while Jessica Rosenstein received Back of the Match recognition for the Lions.
 
Coach Nicholas summed up the weekend.
 
"It was a great start to our season with two shutout victories," he said.  "The fall for us is all about creating chemistry and working on our identity.  It's truly our development season with our goal to peak in the spring.  We have a ton of potential this year and look to improve throughout the season as we work on different combinations.  It was also great to see so many fans in the stands and also have the dance teams and band supporting us."
 
Women's rugby returns to the pitch for a road match against the Glendale Merlins.  The opening kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Infinity Park in Glendale, Colorado.
