As well as the first game of the regular season went Saturday night, it was just the opposite Sunday afternoon as the Lions were shutout by Central Oklahoma 2-0 at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
Lindenwood continued its trademark shooting barrage against the Bronchos, but could not get a puck past the UCO netminder. After being blanked the first game, the Bronchos finally hit the back of the net against
Cooper Seedott at 13:56 of the first. They added another goal with 10:37 remaining in the third period for the final margin.
The Lions outshot Central Oklahoma 42-30 and Seedott stopped 28 of the 30 pucks he faced.
The defeat drops Lindenwood to 1-1 on the new season. Last year, it took until late January before the Lions lost their first contest. They have a relatively quick turnaround and another tough test in the next series on the road against Michigan – Dearborn October 3-4 in Dearborn, Michigan. The Wolves were ranked fourth in the American Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Division I Preseason Ranking. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday night at the Michigan Dearborn Arena.
