The first home game for men's ice hockey at the new Centene Community Ice Center proved successful as the Lions shutout Central Oklahoma 4-0 Saturday night in Maryland Heights, Missouri.

A large and supportive crowd watched as Lindenwood took the lead on a power play at 13:33 in the first period when
Vegard Faret blasted a shot with help from
Alex Kalau and
Brendan Murphy. The Lions built their advantage with an even strength goal from
Hayden Ursulak at 7:25 in the second on a play set up by Kalau and
Kyler Newman.
Ursulak found the back of the net again early in the third on a feed from
Zach Martin and Murphy at 1:16 to make it 3-0, and Lindenwood put the finishing touches on the victory with a power play goal from
Aapo Nurminen at 12:04, with assists from Murphy and Faret.
The Lions outshot the Bronchos 52-25 and
Cooper Seedott stopped all 25 pucks he faced to earn the shutout win in goal for Lindenwood.
The Lions will go for a two-game series sweep when they face Central Oklahoma Sunday afternoon. The puck drops at 2:30 p.m. at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
