Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Women's Hockey Sweeps RIT on Saturday with Another Shutout

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (4-14-3, 2-8-0 CHA) swept RIT (9-13-2, 2-8-0 CHA) with a 2-0 victory on Saturday at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.  Annika Asplundh made 28 saves en route to her second-straight shutout.

GAME OVERVIEW
The pace of play was quick and intense from the first period, as the two teams were even in shots with nine each in the first frame.  Lindenwood broke the tie early in the second period when Bailey Coyne tossed a perfect pass to Sierra Burt, as she was charging to the net for the first goal of the game.  The Lions continued to apply pressure throughout the second period, outshooting the tigers 13-10.

The Lions played the puck well in the final period, keeping the high-chance opportunities for RIT to a minimum.  Jada Burke put the game away with an empty net goal at the 18:47 mark of the third period, giving the Lions their second victory in as many days.

Burt tallied her second-straight two-point game, as she was credited with the game winner on Saturday.  Cierra Paisley led the Lions in the faceoff circle with 11 wins, while the team won the battle in the dots by a 31-15 margin.  Lauren Dabrowski helped keep pucks away from the net, as she compiled four blocks on the day.
