Ryan Finnegan had a good night, accounting for all three goals in a 3-1 win over Robert Morris (Ill.) Saturday night at the Edge Ice Arena in Bensenville, Illinois.
The sophomore forward netted the first early in the opening period when
Zach Martin and
Kyler Newman set up the play at 3:05. The Lions took a 2-0 lead midway through the first as Martin and
Aapo Nurminen fed Finnegan for the goal at 10:47, but the Eagles cut the lead in half with 6:25 remaining. The final score of the game came on a power play in the second period.
Austin Wilk and
Tommy Heinzman worked the puck to Finnegan and he hit split the pipes for his hat trick at 10:24.
The Lions outshot Robert Morris 46-18 and
Cooper Seedott stopped all but one of the 18 pucks he faced to earn the victory in goal.
With the win, Lindenwood improved to 15-5-0 overall and to 9-1-0 in the Central States Collegiate Hockey League (CSCHL). The Lions host Ohio University in another CSCHL match-up January 24-25. The puck drops at 7:15 p.m. Friday night and at 1:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
