The No. 16 Lindenwood wrestling team (5-2, 2-0 GLVC) powered its way past UIndy (5-5, 0-1 GLVC) on Sunday, posting a 35-6 win in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.

Tanner Hitchcock tallied a take down in his 133-pound bout, but his opponent earned two escape points to take the match to overtime. Hitchcock earned an escape, in the second overtime period and added a takedown in the final frame to win 5-2.
Colby Smith quickly pressed the pace and jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first minute of his 141-pound match. Smith handled his opponent in the second period, and powered his way to a 19-2 tech fall.
The 149-pound match was a battle as
Danny Swan fought to take a 4-3 lead in the third period. After surrendering a point to tie the bout at 4-4, Swan earned a take down just before the final buzzer sounded to win 6-4.
In similar fashion at 157 pounds,
Nate Trepanier earned a 4-2 lead at the end of the second period with a late takedown. The match went into overtime after UIndy earned riding time points to make it a 4-4 tie, before Trepanier fell in overtime due to a late takedown.
Austin Stofer showed his strength in is match, earning six points in the first period. Stofer ran through his opponent in the second period and earned four near fall points to take a 12-1 lead. The Eureka, Mo. native then earned back-to-back takedowns to take a 16-4 lead after two periods. Stofer picked up two more takedowns in the third period to earn a 21-4 tech fall.
Sophomore transfer
Abner Romero wasted no time in his first match with the Lions, as he earned a pin just 41 seconds into the 174-pound bout.
Elijah Mahan took an lead in the first period, but found himself in some trouble. However, in one quick move Mahan muscled his way to a reversal and earned a pin in the second period. Coming into the day, Mahan was ranked No. 8 in NCAA Division II for falls, and has since increased his total to eight.
Jared McKindley methodical in his 197-pound bout, going to overtime tied 1-1. McKindley tallied a takedown in the first overtime period to earn a 3-1 decision victory.
Courvoisier Morrow closed out the day with a 14-4 major decision, giving the Lions a 35-6 victory.
