The Lindenwood men's basketball team dropped its fifth straight game, losing 103-80, to the Tritons of Missouri-St. Louis. The team's record falls to 8-8, with a 2-6 mark in the GLVC.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions trailed early to the Tritons in Monday's matchup, falling behind by as much as 22 points in the first half. Lindenwood shot 9-28 for 32.1 percent in the first half, including a 3-16 mark from the three point line, while being held to 25 points over the first 20 minutes.
The second half was much of the same for Lindenwood, as the team was never able to get within 16 points of Missouri-St. Louis. The second half saw the Lions shoot much better offensively, as the team hit on six of their 12 three point shot attempts. The Tritons also shot well in the second half, going 5-7 from deep, and finishing the second half with over 70 percent of field goals made.
The Lions were outscored 54-30 by the Tritons in the paint over the course of the game. Both teams finished even on second chance points with eight, but Lindenwood could not find a solution to stop Missouri-St. Louis' bench, who finished with 42 points to Lindenwood's 12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- TJ Crockett led the team with 25 points. It was the 11th game this season for Crockett with at least 20 points.
- Crockett also led the team in rebounds with five, the sixth time this season he has led the team in rebounds, and the ninth time in his career.
- Vijay Blackmon tacked on 20 points for the Lions, his sixth game of the season with 20 or more points. Blackmon is currently second on the team with 16.2 points per game.
- Sukhman Bhinder led Lindenwood with six assists, tying a career-high for assists in a game. It was the second time this season Bhinder tallied six assists.
- Bhinder also added five steals, doubling his previous career-high. The five steals marks the first time in Bhinder's career that he has led the team in steals for a game.
- Luka Radosevic added ten points for Lindenwood, and for the fifth time this season Radosevic reached double-digits in scoring.
QUOTEABLE
"I have to tip my hat to Coach Sundvold and his team," said Head Coach
Kyle Gerdeman. "There is a reason they sit at the top of the GLVC. They got after us for the full 40 minutes, and deserve all the credit. I thought we had some guys play well in the second half, and we will take that and improve upon it going forward."
