GAME OVERVIEW
The No. 16 Lindenwood wrestling squad took care of Central Missouri 42-4 on Saturday night at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
Sam Pennington highlighted the dual with a quick pin in just 30 seconds in his 197-pound match.
The night began with a rematch of the 2019 NCAA Regional final at 133 pounds between No. 12
Tanner Hitchcock and John Feeney. Hitchcock earned an early takedown, but Feeney quickly escaped to eliminate the threat. A late take down in the third period gave Hitchcock the 6-4 decision victory to increase the Lindenwood lead.
Colby Smith controlled the first period in his 141-pound bout, taking a quick 4-0 lead. Smith cranked up the pace in the second period to go up 14-1, before posting a 20-1 tech fall in the final period.
Danny Swan found himself in a tight spot late in the first period of his match, but flipped the script in exciting fashion. While facing a potential pin, Swan pulled a reversal and immediately pinned his opponent, just beating the clock to earn the victory.
Nate Trepanier wore down his opponent registering 3:42 of riding time after the first two periods. Trepanier added riding time for the entire third period, earning the 7-2 decision.
Austin Stofer took some time to get going, but the 165-pounder worked forward all match. Stofer powered his way through his opponent on a few takedowns, earning an 18-5 major decision.
Elijah Mahan didn't need much time to take his opponent down, as he pinned his opponent at the 1:16 mark of the first period.
Sam Pennington needed just 30 seconds to post a pin, extending the Lindenwood lead to 39-4.
Courvoisier Morrow closed out the night with an 8-3 decision to give the Lions a 42-4 win.
