No. 7 Wrestling Rolls to Shutout Over Kentucky Wesleyan on Senior Night

The No. 7 Lindenwood wrestling team (7-4) shutout Kentucky Wesleyan (4-13) by a 44-0 score on Senior Night in Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Mo.
 
DUAL OVERVIEW
No. 3 Carlos Jacquez utilized three takedowns in the first period to take a 6-2 lead, setting the tone for the night.  Jacquez finished with a strong 13-5 major decision victory in his final home match of his Lindenwood career.  No. 10 Tanner Hitchcock clashed with his opponent, as the two collided multiple times in a physical battle.  The Basehor, Kan. native earned two minutes of riding time in the second period, and picked up his scoring in the third frame to register a 10-2 major decision.
 
No. 6 Colby Smith took a 3-0 lead after the second period of his 141-pound bout, posting a 4-0 decision victory to make it 11-0 in favor of the Lions.  Senior Danny Swan closed out his Hyland Arena career with a slim 3-2 decision after registering a takedown in the third period.  Nate Trepanier piled up the points from the get-go in his 157-pound match, scoring 10 points due to two four-point near falls.  Trepanier powered his way to a 17-0 tech fall in the second period, giving the Lions a commanding 19-0 lead.
 
Tim Bogar pounced on his opponent early, scoring four points in the first period of his 165-pound match.  After a scoreless second period, Bogar picked up a reversal in the first six seconds of the final period, ending his bout with an 8-0 major decision.  Abner Romero took control of a fast-paced 174-pound match, as he muscled his way to a pin at the 2:36 mark to extend the Lindenwood lead.  No. 6 Courvoisier Morrow closed the night out with a 10-4 decision in his final match inside Hyland Arena, giving Lindenwood the final home victory of the 2019-20 season.

Lindenwood closed out the regular season with a 7-4 record on the year, with a 3-1 mark in the GLVC.  The Lions will head to the GLVC Tournament on Saturday in St. Louis, Mo.
