Softball Splits on Opening Day

GAME OVERVIEWS
Lindenwood softball played in two 11-2 games in the opening day of the Cactus Classic, winning over Western New Mexico and falling to West Texas A&M. Stormee Galka earned the win in game one while Marina Esparza was hit with the loss in game two.

Western New Mexico Notables
- Lindenwood scored 11 runs on four hits while drawing six walks. 
- In the circle, Stormee Galka threw all five innings, striking out five and allowing only two hits and two runs (one earned).
- At the plate, Kayla Scholz had the Lions' lone extra-base hit, a pinch hit triple.
- Whitney Wendel started at shortstop and hit cleanup in her first game as a Lion. She was 1-3 with two runs and two RBIs.

West Texas A&M Notables
- In game two, the Lions scattered five hits over seven innings. 
- Ceairra Perez was 1-3 with an RBI. 
- Marina Esparza threw 6.1 IP, striking out five. Madison Corwell threw in relief, allowing two hits and striking out one.
