Baseball Sweeps Northwood with 12-2 Victory on Sunday

The Lindenwood baseball team (8-1) swept Northwood (1-5) with a 12-2 win on Sunday at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
Northwood opened the scoring in the top of the second inning with an-unearned run to make it 1-0.  The Lions answered in the bottom half of the inning, starting with a double down the left field line by Beau Collier.  Jayce Maag singled through the left side to move Collier to third, and advanced to second on the throw.  Will Lanxon doubled down the right field line to bring in both runners, making it a 2-1 lead for the Lions.

Lindenwood erupted for nine runs in the second inning, as Bryce Beckmann utilized his speed to start the inning.  After a leadoff double, Beckmann scored from second base on a wild pitch to extend the lead.  The Lions followed with three-consecutive hits, resulting in two more runs.  Maag tripled to right center to bring in Mitchell Krebs in the process.  The Timberwolves made five errors for the remainder of the inning, allowing Lindenwood to score five more times to make it an 11-1 ballgame.

The two teams traded runs in the fifth inning, but the Lindenwood pitching staff held strong throughout the final game of the series.  Kyle Hentis registered seven strikeouts in his six innings of work, allowing just three hits.  Calvin Nowak had a monster weekend with seven stolen bases, while going 6-for-10 at the dish.  Kolby Schulte drove in nine runs in the three-game series, as he went 7-for-14 at the plate.
