The No. 17 Lindenwood baseball team (10-1) swept Truman State in Saturday's doubleheader at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo. The Lions defeated the Bulldogs by scores of 11-5 and 4-3, respectively to extend their winning streak to nine games.
GAME ONE OVERVIEW
Truman State opened the first game with a 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Lions responded in the bottom half of the inning.
Bryce Beckmann used his speed all game, starting with an infield single and a stolen base to start the inning. Beckmann later scored on an error by the Bulldogs, while
Mitchell Krebs put the Lions ahead with a two-RBI double to left center. Krebs scored to end the inning, giving the Lions a 4-2 lead.
Beckmann stole two bases in the second inning, and later scored on a two-RBI double down the right field line by
Kolby Schulte. Krebs drove in another run on a single up the middle, extending the Lindenwood lead to 7-2.
Beau Collier led off the third inning with a double to right center. Collier scored on a misplay by the Bulldogs, and
Jayce Maag crossed the plate on a passed ball to give Lindenwood a 9-2 lead after three innings.
Truman State cut the deficit to 9-5 after a few runs in the top of the fourth, but the Lions responded with one run in the fourth inning and another in the fifth inning to take an 11-5 lead.
Blake Beckmann picked up the win after tossing five innings.
Nate Hillermann closed the door in the final two innings, allowing just one hit.

GAME TWO OVERVIEW
The second game of the doubleheader was a quality pitchers dual, as neither team could generate a run in the first three innings. The Bulldogs broke the tie in the top of the fourth with a run on two hits.
Jacob Thompson pitched well for the Lions, allowing just one run on three hits in his seven innings of work. Truman State added two runs in the top of the ninth to take a 3-0 lead, and grabbing any momentum from the Lions.
Maag led off the inning by reaching second base on a pair of errors by the Bulldogs. Lindenwood loaded the bases after a hit-by-pitch and a walk, placing the go-ahead run at the dish. On the first pitch of the at-bat, Beckmann hammered the ball to deep center to bring in three-runs on a bases-clearing triple. The Lions drew three-consecutive walks to bring in Beckmann for the game-winning run.
