No. 5 Lindenwood women's lacrosse (4-0, 0-0 GLVC) won, 11-5, against No. 7 Tampa (3-1, 0-0 SSC) on Tuesday.
GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions led, 5-2, after the first 30 minutes of the game, in a half that saw them put up 13 shots and record eight saves. The team scooped more ground balls, 15-11, than the Spartans in the first half, and both teams finished with an equal number of draw controls, four. In the first half, both teams committed 12 turnovers. After being tied up at 2-2, Lindenwood scored three-straight goals to close out the first half.
The second half saw both teams finish dead even on shots, 14-14, while also finishing with an equal amount of saves, 5-5. Lindenwood scooped up 10 ground balls in the final 30 minutes, while recording five draw controls. The Lions scored the first three goals of the second half, giving them six goals scored unanswered, before Tampa scored three-straight to close the gap to three points. The Lions closed the game out on a 3-0 scoring run, to secure the victory, and leave Florida with two wins over top-10 ranked opponents.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Erin McGuire finished with a team-high three goals against Tampa. Lexy Biller and Meghan Rea both scored two goals each.
- Hannah Doughty, Kym Ardrey, Morgan Reader, and Carly Fedorowski also scored a goal for the Lions.
- McGuire had a game-high three assists, and accounted for three of the Lions' four assists.
- Eleanor Kast scooped up six ground balls in the game. Ardrey added four ground balls, and McGuire and Alana Jeronimo each had three ground balls for the team.
- Shannon Modl and Fedorowski both recorded three draw controls. Biller finished with two draw controls for the team.
- McGuire and Fedorowski both tallied two caused turnovers.
- Eleanor Kast finished with 13 saves, and picked up the win, for her fourth of the season.
