Men's ice hockey blanked Maryville 6-0 to earn a two-game series sweep Monday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri.
The game was highlighted by the first goals for three players as Lions. Junior transfer
Declan Carter, sophomore
Jeremy Velazquez, and freshman
Keven Lapointe each split the pipes to help the Lindenwood cause. The Lions led 2-0 after the first period, 3-0 after the second, and scored another three in the third to improve to 2-0.
Lindenwood outshot the Saints 47-16 and
Stephen Friedland stopped all 16 shots he faced to earn the shutout victory.
The Lions return to the ice January 15-16 when they host Missouri State. The puck drops at 7:10 p.m. Friday night and 3:10 p.m. Saturday afternoon at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights.
