Women's Hockey Explodes For Five Goals, Sweeps RIT

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-6-0, 2-6-0 CHA picked up its second victory in as many days over RIT (1-6-0, 1-6-0 CHA) by the score of 5-1.  10 different Lions registered a point in the win.

GAME OVERVIEW
The first period saw both teams generate scoring chances, with Lindenwood registering 11 shots on goal, while the Tigers put seven shots on target. Lindenwood capitalized on one of those chances just past the halfway point of the opening period when Thea Jorgensen netted her first career goal as a member of the Lions off a pass from Casey Adimey, which gave Lindenwood a 1-0 lead. The Lions took the one goal advantage into the locker room.
 
The Lions kept up the offensive pressure to begin the second frame, compiling the first nine shots of the period. The Tigers would push back, however knotting the game at 1-1 at the 8:49 mark of the period. The Lions would regain the one goal advantage just four minutes later when Rachel Goff found the back of the net against her former team.
 
The Tigers would keep battling trying to find the equalizer, but the Lindenwood defense stood strong, killing off three RIT power plays in the first six minutes of the final frame. The Lions would extend the lead to 3-1 as Thea Jorgensen scored her second goal of the game at the 7:27 mark of the period. Sierra Burt and Gigi Pora would also find the back of the net in the third period.
 
10 different Lions would go on to record at least one point, while Bailey Coyne, Casey Adimey and Thea Jorgensen would register two points each in the 5-1 Lindenwood victory.
