Women's Hockey Battles to a 2-2 Tie With No. 8 Penn State

The Lindenwood women's hockey team (2-7-1, 2,7,1 CHA) battled to a 2-2 tie with No. 8 Penn State (9-1-2, 9-1-2 CHA) behind two goals from the powerplay.

GAME OVERVIEW
The opening period was one that saw few chances as both teams were strong in their defensive zone. Lindenwood did however generate some odd man rushes but the Nittany Lion goaltender was there to make the save. The Lions would keep working in the offensive zone and earn a powerplay with just over six minutes left in the opening frame. On the man advantage, Sierra Burt found the back of the net for the third time this season, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead.  They would take that lead into the locker room.

Penn State made some adjustments during the first intermission and started the second period with speed, putting pressure on the Lions.  The pressure would result in a game-tying goal less than four minutes into the period. Just four minutes later, the Lindenwood powerplay would go back to work as Jane Jacobs tapped in a rebound for her third goal of the season, once again giving the Lions a one goal advantage. The Nittany Lions responded after the goal with lots of pressure in the Lindenwood offensive zone, wearing down the Lions, which resulted in a goal at the 17:59 mark, tying the game 2-2.

Both teams saw few chances in the third period as each team was strong in the defensive zone, which resulted in no goals in the third period.

In the 3-on 3 overtime, each goalie made some key saves, resulting in a 2-2 tie.
