The Lindenwood women's volleyball team (12-6, 5-2 GLVC) earned its 12th win in a 3-0 sweep against Findlay (11-6, 7-2 GMAC) to close out the Midwest Region Crossover Tournament on Saturday.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lions compiled a highly efficient offensive showing against the Oilers in the team's third game at the Midwest Region Crossover Tourney. As a unit, Lindenwood tallied 42 kills on a .412 hitting percentage, the second-highest team attack percentage this season for the Lions. Compared to Findlay, Lindenwood totaled six more kills, five more aces, assists, and blocks, and one more dig.
In the opening set, Lindenwood posted 15 kills on a .519 hitting percentage, winning the set 25-23. A 3-0 scoring run put the Lions up, 11-7, after a termination by
Audrey Weber and a service ace by
Abby VanBuskirk. Lindenwood would not trail for the remainder of the set after going down early, 6-4, finishing the opener with a 21-17 scoring advantage.
The second set witnessed the Lions hit the ball at a .462 clip with 14 kills, moving to 2-0 in the match, after winning the set 25-14. The set mirrored a trend for the Lions offense this season, recording three different runs of four or more points without allowing the opposition to tally a termination. A 3-0 run, which was buoyed by two-straight kills from Weber, gave the Lions their second set victory.
After a third and final set in which Lindenwood hit .281 with 13 kills, the team secured their fourth win in the last five matches. Kills from
Madilyn Dement and
Nyah Wilson helped the Lions to an early 6-2 lead in the third set. With a one-point lead, 11-10, Lindenwood put together another 4-0 scoring run to stave off an Oilers comeback. The Lions would rattle off two more 4-0 runs in the third set to capture a neutral site sweep of Findlay.
