The Lindenwood women's volleyball team (13-6, 6-2 GLVC) picked up a road sweep of William Jewell (7-15, 1-9 GLVC) on Friday.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The Lions secured their third-straight win with a 3-0 sweep of the Cardinals on Friday. Lindenwood notched 47 total kills, three service aces, four blocks, 46 assists, and 57 digs. The Lions tallied all three aces in the match, and finished with 16 more kills and 15 more assists than the opposing squad. As a team, Lindenwood notched a .260 attack percentage, while limiting William Jewell to a .114 hitting percentage.
In the opening set, the Lions jumped out to a 4-1 lead on kills from
Audrey Weber and
Mackenzi Sifuentes, and back-to-back attack errors from the Cardinals. After Jewell tied the set at 4-4, Lindenwood would put together multiple runs of 3-0 to take an 11-7 advantage in the opener. Weber tallied three kills in the first set for the Lions.
The second set witnessed an 8-1 run put together by Lindenwood to take a 13-7 lead.
Rebecca Janke had three kills in the team's first 13 points of the second slate. The Lions would not allow the Cardinals to close the gap, as the team went up 2-0 on a dominant 25-14 second set showing.
Madilyn Dement (1) and Janke (2) amassed the final three points, with kills, respectively.
The closest of the sets came in the third and final of the match, which Lindenwood secured, 25-22. The Lions totaled 14 kills to the Cardinals' 12. Lindenwood trailed late, 18-14, before a going on a 5-0 stretch to take a one-point lead, 19-18. Multiple kills from Sifuentes and Janke helped the team close out the Cards and earn their fifth win in the last six contests.
